ACIM Bridge Passages

“I will go with you to the Holy One, and through my perception He can bridge the little gap.” (T-4.VI.7:1)

“The ego’s perception has no counterpart in God, but the Holy Spirit remains the Bridge between perception and [God’s] knowledge.” (T-6.II.7.:2)

“Peace is the bridge that everyone will cross, to leave this world behind.” ~from Lesson 200: There is no peace except the peace of God.

“Dreams of any kind are strange and alien to truth. And what but truth could have a Thought which builds a bridge to it that brings illusions to the other side?” ~Lesson 198

Jesus as a Bridge to God: “No man cometh unto the Father but by me” does not mean that I am in any way separate or different from you except in time, and time does not really exist. The statement is more meaningful in terms of a vertical rather than a horizontal axis. You stand below me and I stand below God. In the process of “rising up,” I am higher because without me the distance between God and man would be too great for you to encompass. I bridge the distance as an elder brother to you on the one hand, and as a Son of God on the other. My devotion to my brothers has placed me in charge of the Sonship, which I render complete because I share it. This may appear to contradict the statement “I and my Father are one,” but there are two parts to the statement in recognition that the Father is greater.

Revelations are indirectly inspired by me because I am close to the Holy Spirit, and alert to the revelation-readiness of my brothers. I can thus bring down to them more than they can draw down to themselves. The Holy Spirit mediates higher to lower communication, keeping the direct channel from God to you open for revelation. Revelation is not reciprocal. It proceeds from God to you, but not from you to God.

The miracle minimizes the need for time. In the longitudinal or horizontal plane the recognition of the equality of the members of the Sonship appears to involve almost endless time. However, the miracle entails a sudden shift from horizontal to vertical perception. This introduces an interval from which the giver and receiver both emerge farther along in time than they would otherwise have been. The miracle thus has the unique property of abolishing time to the extent that it renders the interval of time it spans unnecessary. There is no relationship between the time a miracle takes and the time it covers. The miracle substitutes for learning that might have taken thousands of years. It does so by the underlying recognition of perfect equality of giver and receiver on which the miracle rests. The miracle shortens time by collapsing it, thus eliminating certain intervals within it. It does this, however, within the larger temporal sequence.

“Dreams of any kind are strange and alien to truth. And what but truth could have a Thought which builds a bridge to it that brings illusions to the other side?” ~Lesson 198

Forgiveness Is the Bridge to Heaven: Forgiveness is for God and toward God but not of Him. It is impossible to think of anything He created that could need forgiveness. Forgiveness, then, is an illusion, but because of its purpose, which is the Holy Spirit’s, it has one difference. Unlike all other illusions it leads away from error and not towards it.

Forgiveness might be called a kind of happy fiction; a way in which the unknowing can bridge the gap between their perception and the truth. They cannot go directly from perception to knowledge because they do not think it is their will to do so. This makes God appear to be an enemy instead of what He really is. And it is just this insane perception that makes them unwilling merely to rise up and to return to Him in peace.

And so they need an illusion of help because they are helpless; a Thought of peace because they are in conflict. God knows what His Son needs before he asks. He is not at all concerned with form, but having given the content it is His Will that it be understood. And that suffices. The form adapts itself to need; the content is unchanging, as eternal as its Creator.

The face of Christ has to be seen before the memory of God can return. The reason is obvious. Seeing the face of Christ involves perception. No one can look on knowledge. But the face of Christ is the great symbol of forgiveness. It is salvation. It is the symbol of the real world. Whoever looks on this no longer sees the world. He is as near to Heaven as is possible outside the gate. Yet from this gate it is no more than just a step inside. It is the final step. And this we leave to God.

Forgiveness is a symbol, too, but as the symbol of His Will alone it cannot be divided. And so the unity that it reflects becomes His Will. It is the only thing still in the world in part, and yet the bridge to Heaven.

God’s Will is all there is. We can but go from nothingness to everything; from hell to Heaven. Is this a journey? No, not in truth, for truth goes nowhere. But illusions shift from place to place; from time to time. The final step is also but a shift. As a perception it is part unreal. And yet this part will vanish. What remains is peace eternal and the Will of God.

There are no wishes now for wishes change. Even the wished-for can become unwelcome. That must be so because the ego cannot be at peace. But Will is constant, as the gift of God. And what He gives is always like Himself. This is the purpose of the face of Christ. It is the gift of God to save His Son. But look on this and you have been forgiven.

How lovely does the world become in just that single instant when you see the truth about yourself reflected there. Now you are sinless and behold your sinlessness. Now you are holy and perceive it so. And now the mind returns to its Creator; the joining of the Father and the Son, the Unity of unities that stands behind all joining but beyond them all. God is not seen but only understood. His Son is not attacked but recognized.

Across the Bridge All Dreams are Carried to the Truth

The Holy Spirit mediates between illusions and the truth.  Since He must bridge the gap between reality and dreams, perception leads to knowledge through the grace that God has given Him, to be His gift to everyone who turns to Him for truth.  Across the bridge that He provides are dreams all carried to the truth, to be dispelled before the light of knowledge.  There are sights and sounds forever laid aside.  And where they were perceived before, forgiveness has made possible perception’s tranquil end.

Peace Is the Bridge that Everyone Will Cross

Peace is the bridge that everyone will cross, to leave this world behind. But peace begins within the world perceived as different, and leading from this fresh perception to the gate of Heaven and the way beyond. Peace is the answer to conflicting goals, to senseless journeys, frantic, vain pursuits, and meaningless endeavors. Now the way is easy, sloping gently toward the bridge where freedom lies within the peace of God.

Let us not lose our way again today. We go to Heaven, and the path is straight. Only if we attempt to wander can there be delay, and needless wasted time on thorny byways. God alone is sure, and He will guide our footsteps. He will not desert His Son in need, nor let him stray forever from his home. The Father calls; the Son will hear. And that is all there is to what appears to be a world apart from God, where bodies have reality.

Now is there silence. Seek no further. You have come to where the road is carpeted with leaves of false desires, fallen from the trees of hopelessness you sought before. Now are they underfoot. And you look up and on toward Heaven, with the body’s eyes but serving for an instant longer now. Peace is already recognized at last, and you can feel its soft embrace surround your heart and mind with comfort and with love.

Today we seek no idols. Peace can not be found in them. The peace of God is ours, and only this will we accept and want. Peace be to us today. For we have found a simple, happy way to leave the world of ambiguity, and to replace our shifting goals and solitary dreams with single purpose and companionship. For peace is union, if it be of God. We seek no further. We are close to home, and draw still nearer every time we say:

There is no peace except the peace of God,

And I am glad and thankful it is so.

Truth is the Thought which Builds a Bridge

This world has many seeming separate haunts where mercy has no meaning, and attack appears as justified. Yet all are one; a place where death is offered to God’s Son and to his Father. You may think They have accepted. But if you will look again upon the place where you beheld Their blood, you will perceive a miracle instead. How foolish to believe that They could die! How foolish to believe you can attack! How mad to think that you could be condemned, and that the holy Son of God can die!

The stillness of your Self remains unmoved, untouched by thoughts like these, and unaware of any condemnation which could need forgiveness. Dreams of any kind are strange and alien to the truth. And what but truth could have a Thought which builds a bridge to it that brings illusions to the other side?

~excerpted from Workbook Lesson 198: Only my condemnation injures me.

Bridge between the Worlds

Christ’s vision is the bridge between the worlds. And in its power can you safely trust to carry you from this world into one made holy by forgiveness. Things which seem quite solid here are merely shadows there; transparent, faintly seen, at times forgot, and never able to obscure the light that shines beyond them. Holiness has been restored to vision, and the blind can see.

~excerpted from Workbook Lesson 159: I give the miracles I have received.

A Star Is Left Behind

Forgiveness stands between illusions and the truth; between the world you see and that which lies beyond; between the hell of guilt and Heaven’s gate.

Across this bridge, as powerful as love which laid its blessing on it, are all dreams of evil and of hatred and attack brought silently to truth.  They are not kept to swell and bluster, and to terrify the foolish dreamer who believes in them.  He has been gently wakened from his dream by understanding what he thought he saw was never there.  And now he cannot feel that all escape has been denied to him.

He does not fight to save himself.  He does not have to kill the dragons which he thought pursued him.  Nor need he erect the heavy walls of stone and iron doors he thought would make him safe.  He can remove the ponderous and useless armor made to chain his mind to fear and misery.  His step is light, and as he lifts his foot to stride ahead a star is left behind, to point the way to those who follow him.

~excerpted from Workbook Lesson 134: Let me perceive forgiveness as it is.

Bridge the Little Gap

The miracle does nothing just because the minds are joined, and cannot separate. Yet in the dreaming has this been reversed, and separate minds are seen as bodies, which are separated and which cannot join. Do not allow your brother to be sick, for if he is, have you abandoned him to his own dream by sharing it with him. He has not seen the cause of sickness where it is, and you have overlooked the gap between you, where the sickness has been bred. Thus are you joined in sickness, to preserve the little gap unhealed, where sickness is kept carefully protected, cherished, and upheld by firm belief, lest God should come to bridge the little gap that leads to Him. Fight not His coming with illusions, for it is His coming that you want above all things that seem to glisten in the dream.

The end of dreaming is the end of fear, and love was never in the world of dreams. The gap is little. Yet it holds the seeds of pestilence and every form of ill, because it is a wish to keep apart and not to join. And thus it seems to give a cause to sickness which is not its cause. The purpose of the gap is all the cause that sickness has. For it was made to keep you separated, in a body which you see as if it were the cause of pain.

The cause of pain is separation, not the body, which is only its effect. Yet separation is but empty space, enclosing nothing, doing nothing, and as unsubstantial as the empty place between the ripples that a ship has made in passing by. And covered just as fast, as water rushes in to close the gap, and as the waves in joining cover it. Where is the gap between the waves when they have joined, and covered up the space which seemed to keep them separate for a little while? Where are the grounds for sickness when the minds have joined to close the little gap between them, where the seeds of sickness seemed to grow?

God builds the bridge, but only in the space left clean and vacant by the miracle. The seeds of sickness and the shame of guilt He cannot bridge, for He can not destroy the alien will that He created not. Let its effects be gone and clutch them not with eager hands, to keep them for yourself. The miracle will brush them all aside, and thus make room for Him Who wills to come and bridge His Son’s returning to Himself.

Count, then, the silver miracles and golden dreams of happiness as all the treasures you would keep within the storehouse of the world. The door is open, not to thieves, but to your starving brothers, who mistook for gold the shining of a pebble, and who stored a heap of snow that shone like silver. They have nothing left behind the open door. What is the world except a little gap perceived to tear eternity apart, and break it into days and months and years? And what are you who live within the world except a picture of the Son of God in broken pieces, each concealed within a separate and uncertain bit of clay?

Be not afraid, my child, but let your world be gently lit by miracles. And where the little gap was seen to stand between you and your brother, join him there. And so sickness will now be seen without a cause. The dream of healing in forgiveness lies, and gently shows you that you never sinned. The miracle would leave no proof of guilt to bring you witness to what never was. And in your storehouse it will make a place of welcome for your Father and your Self. The door is open, that all those may come who would no longer starve, and would enjoy the feast of plenty set before them there. And they will meet with your invited Guests the miracle has asked to come to you.

This is a feast unlike indeed to those the dreaming of the world has shown. For here, the more that anyone receives, the more is left for all the rest to share. The Guests have brought unlimited supply with Them. And no one is deprived or can deprive. Here is a feast the Father lays before His Son, and shares it equally with him. And in Their sharing there can be no gap in which abundance falters and grows thin. Here can the lean years enter not, for time waits not upon this feast, which has no end. For love has set its table in the space that seemed to keep your Guests apart from you.

And thus He* judges you.  Accept His Word for what you are, for He bears witness to your beautiful creation, and the Mind Whose Thought created your reality.  What can the body mean to Him Who knows the glory of the Father and the Son?  What whispers of the ego can He hear?  What could convince Him that your sins are real?  Let Him be Judge as well of everything that seems to happen to you in this world.  His lessons will enable you to bridge the gap between illusions and the truth.

The Memory of God Is the Bridge

What has been lost, to see the causeless not?  And where is sacrifice, when memory of God has come to take the place of loss?  What better way to close the gap between illusions and reality than to allow the memory of God to flow across it, making a bridge an instant will suffice to reach beyond?  For God has closed it with Himself.  His memory has not gone by, and left a stranded Son forever on a shore where he can glimpse another shore that he can never reach.  His Father wills that he be lifted up and gently carried over.  He has built the bridge, and it is He Who will transport His Son across it.  Have no fear that He will fail in what He wills.  Nor that you be excluded from the will that is for you.

The Bridge between the Past and Present

The Son whom God created is as free as God created him. He was reborn the instant that he chose to die instead of live. And will you not forgive him now, because he made an error in the past that God remembers not, and is not there? Now you are shifting back and forth between the past and present. Sometimes the past seems real, as if it were the present. Voices from the past are heard and then are doubted. You are like to one who still hallucinates, but lacks conviction in what he perceives. This is the borderland between the worlds, the bridge between the past and present. Here the shadow of the past remains, but still a present light is dimly recognized. Once it is seen, this light can never be forgotten. It must draw you from the past into the present, where you really are.

The shadow voices do not change the laws of time nor of eternity. They come from what is past and gone, and hinder not the true existence of the here and now. The real world is the second part of the hallucination time and death are real, and have existence that can be perceived. This terrible illusion was denied in but the time it took for God to give His Answer to illusion for all time and every circumstance. And then it was no more to be experienced as there.

Each day, and every minute in each day, and every instant that each minute holds, you but relive the single instant when the time of terror took the place of love. And so you die each day to live again, until you cross the gap between the past and present, which is not a gap at all. Such is each life; a seeming interval from birth to death and on to life again, a repetition of an instant gone by long ago that cannot be relived. And all of time is but the mad belief that what is over is still here and now.

Forgive the past and let it go, for it is gone. You stand no longer on the ground that lies between the worlds. You have gone on, and reached the world that lies at Heaven’s gate. There is no hindrance to the Will of God, nor any need that you repeat again a journey that was over long ago. Look gently on your brother, and behold the world in which perception of your hate has been transformed into a world of love.

Lesson 136 – Sickness is a defense against the truth.

Commentary (full lesson beneath commentary)

Healing is automatic.  Healing flashes across an open mind.  Peace and truth arise to take the place of war and vain imaginings.

Sickness is a defense against the truth.  I forget the part I play in making my own “reality” … I do this through rapidity of “thinking” false thoughts to distract me.  Chopping and dicing eternity into time and infinity into space.

My defenses have doubly shielded me by oblivion.  I am in an obliviastic coma of denial.  “The parts are seen as if each one were whole within itself” when actually, holographically, all “parts” are Whole because it is impossible to be otherwise.  Yet I believe otherwise.

So belief must be un-believed in order to remember I am not a “me.”  The mind rolls up like a snapped shade and lo and behold, here is the decision-making point.  Ha!  Mental illness is a decision, and another choice is possible: continue dreaming or awaken to Truth?

There’s no time like the present to drop this defense of mental illness, experience true vision with the Holy Spirit and recognize What I Already Am.

Lesson 136

Sickness is a defense against the truth.

No one can heal unless he understands what purpose sickness seems to serve. For then he understands as well its purpose has no meaning. Being causeless and without a meaningful intent of any kind, it cannot be at all. When this is seen, healing is automatic. It dispels this meaningless illusion by the same approach that carries all of them to truth, and merely leaves them there to disappear.

Sickness is not an accident. Like all defenses, it is an insane device for self-deception. And like all the rest, its purpose is to hide reality, attack it, change it, render it inept, distort it, twist it, or reduce it to a little pile of unassembled parts. The aim of all defenses is to keep the truth from being whole. The parts are seen as if each one were whole within itself.

Defenses are not unintentional, nor are they made without awareness. They are secret, magic wands you wave when truth appears to threaten what you would believe. They seem to be unconscious but because of the rapidity with which you choose to use them. In that second, even less, in which the choice is made, you recognize exactly what you would attempt to do, and then proceed to think that it is done.

Who but yourself evaluates a threat, decides escape is necessary, and sets up a series of defenses to reduce the threat that has been judged as real? All this cannot be done unconsciously. But afterwards, your plan requires that you must forget you made it, so it seems to be external to your own intent; a happening beyond your state of mind, an outcome with a real effect on you, instead of one effected by yourself.

It is this quick forgetting of the part you play in making your “reality” that makes defenses seem to be beyond your own control. But what you have forgot can be remembered, given willingness to reconsider the decision which is doubly shielded by oblivion. Your not remembering is but the sign that this decision still remains in force, as far as your desires are concerned. Mistake not this for fact. Defenses must make facts unrecognizable. They aim at doing this, and it is this they do.

Every defense takes fragments of the whole, assembles them without regard to all their true relationships, and thus constructs illusions of a whole that is not there. It is this process that imposes threat, and not whatever outcome may result. When parts are wrested from the whole and seen as separate and wholes within themselves, they become symbols standing for attack upon the whole; successful in effect, and never to be seen as whole again. And yet you have forgotten that they stand but for your own decision of what should be real, to take the place of what is real.

Sickness is a decision. It is not a thing that happens to you, quite unsought, which makes you weak and brings you suffering. It is a choice you make, a plan you lay, when for an instant truth arises in your own deluded mind, and all your world appears to totter and prepare to fall. Now are you sick, that truth may go away and threaten your establishments no more.

How do you think that sickness can succeed in shielding you from truth? Because it proves the body is not separate from you, and so you must be separate from the truth. You suffer pain because the body does, and in this pain are you made one with it. Thus is your “true” identity preserved, and the strange, haunting thought that you might be something beyond this little pile of dust silenced and stilled. For see, this dust can make you suffer, twist your limbs and stop your heart, commanding you to die and cease to be.

Thus is the body stronger than the truth, which asks you live, but cannot overcome your choice to die. And so the body is more powerful than everlasting life, Heaven more frail than hell, and God’s design for the salvation of His Son opposed by a decision stronger than His Will. His Son is dust, the Father incomplete, and chaos sits in triumph on His throne.

Such is your planning for your own defense. And you believe that Heaven quails before such mad attacks as these, with God made blind by your illusions, truth turned into lies, and all the universe made slave to laws which your defenses would impose on it. Yet who believes illusions but the one who made them up? Who else can see them and react to them as if they were the truth?

God knows not of your plans to change His Will. The universe remains unheeding of the laws by which you thought to govern it. And Heaven has not bowed to hell, nor life to death. You can but choose to think you die, or suffer sickness or distort the truth in any way. What is created is apart from all of this. Defenses are plans to defeat what cannot be attacked. What is unalterable cannot change. And what is wholly sinless cannot sin.

Such is the simple truth. It does not make appeal to might nor triumph. It does not command obedience, nor seek to prove how pitiful and futile your attempts to plan defenses that would alter it. Truth merely wants to give you happiness, for such its purpose is. Perhaps it sighs a little when you throw away its gifts, and yet it knows, with perfect certainty, that what God wills for you must be received.

It is this fact that demonstrates that time is an illusion. For time lets you think what God has given you is not the truth right now, as it must be. The Thoughts of God are quite apart from time. For time is but another meaningless defense you made against the truth. Yet what He wills is here, and you remain as He created you.

Truth has a power far beyond defense, for no illusions can remain where truth has been allowed to enter. And it comes to any mind that would lay down its arms, and cease to play with folly. It is found at any time; today, if you will choose to practice giving welcome to the truth.

This is our aim today. And we will give a quarter of an hour twice to ask the truth to come to us and set us free. And truth will come, for it has never been apart from us. It merely waits for just this invitation which we give today. We introduce it with a healing prayer, to help us rise above defensiveness, and let truth be as it has always been:

Sickness is a defense against the truth. I will accept the truth of what I am, and let my mind be wholly healed today.

Healing will flash across your open mind, as peace and truth arise to take the place of war and vain imaginings. There will be no dark corners sickness can conceal, and keep defended from the light of truth. There will be no dim figures from your dreams, nor their obscure and meaningless pursuits with double purposes insanely sought, remaining in your mind. It will be healed of all the sickly wishes that it tried to authorize the body to obey.

Now is the body healed, because the source of sickness has been opened to relief. And you will recognize you practiced well by this: The body should not feel at all. If you have been successful, there will be no sense of feeling ill or feeling well, of pain or pleasure. No response at all is in the mind to what the body does. Its usefulness remains and nothing more.

Perhaps you do not realize that this removes the limits you had placed upon the body by the purposes you gave to it. As these are laid aside, the strength the body has will always be enough to serve all truly useful purposes. The body’s health is fully guaranteed, because it is not limited by time, by weather or fatigue, by food and drink, or any laws you made it serve before. You need do nothing now to make it well, for sickness has become impossible.

Yet this protection needs to be preserved by careful watching. If you let your mind harbor attack thoughts, yield to judgment or make plans against uncertainties to come, you have again misplaced yourself, and made a bodily identity which will attack the body, for the mind is sick.

Give instant remedy, should this occur, by not allowing your defensiveness to hurt you longer. Do not be confused about what must be healed, but tell yourself:

I have forgotten what I really am, for I mistook my body for myself. Sickness is a defense against the truth. But I am not a body. And my mind cannot attack. So I can not be sick.

The Irresistible Attraction of Love for Love

Rest assured that the irresistible attraction of love for love is the strongest power within you. Whether you are in touch with it right now, or not, it will emerge eventually and restore your connection with God.

Chapter 12 of the ACIM Text is called The Holy Spirit’s Curriculum, and in it Jesus tells us, “When you want only love you will see nothing else.”

love light_Are you able to feel love for yourself?  Many, many people are self-critical and believe that self-love is conceited and selfish.  If this describes you, please know that chronic self-criticism is not helping you become a better person, achieve humility, or be selfless.

You may also have noticed that you seem to be in relationships with blamers, that is, people who blame you for everything.  Self-critical people and blamers fit together like hand in glove.  Often, the one who is blamed agrees that they are guilty of having done something wrong, yet, there is also an underlying feeling of injustice.

victim attackerYou may recognize the self-blamer and the blamer within yourself.  This is because the ego is a contradictory, paradoxical thought system which has made you the victim of yourself.  The way this works is that the ego keeps us endlessly distracted by two choices: victim or attacker.  Usually, you will identify with one more than the other — notice if you usually feel attacked or the victim of attack.  The ego has had great success with mesmerizing us with these two choices, however, eventually, it becomes clear that there is a third choice, a better way.

The third choice is unified love — no victim/no attacker.  The ego paradigm of guilt, punishment and death melts stairway to heaven exit rightaway as you see through the ego dream state to the One Self you truly are.  This can occur over many years of mind-shifting as your spiritual path builds conviction within you.  There can be significant spiritual experiences along the way which are best used to confirm that you are on The Path, following your Inner Teacher Home.

The One Self  appears to be many, in conflict, and, occasionally in love, but unaware that these billions of people on earth are all versions of Itself in diverse costumes.  When you want only love, you “get it” that the abused “you” is also the abuser “you” and there is a holy instant of release as you rise above the battleground and allow a miraculous shift in perception from eyesight to Vision, from image-making to Formless LoveLight.

Trump CardThis timeless, formless LoveLight is your God-Self.  The mighty magnetism of your God-Self is constantly attracting you to Love.  As powerful as belief in the ego is, it cannot come close to trumping the Love which is your true inner Self.

Nothing external is true.  No interpretations or judgments are true.  Death is not true.  Shapes and forms come and go in the shadowy dream world the ego has been calling real life, but the brilliant Light within you dissolves all that nonsense instantly — when you want only love.  Love is all-inclusive.  Treasured wounds and righteousness about enemies are seen as two sides of one coin … and the coin disappears back into the no-thingness from which it came.

Begin where you are at.  Lesson 153, In my defenselessness my safety lies, impacted my personal relationships so powerfully that I was freed from many terrors and weaknesses as I practiced it.  Something that helps that profoundly is easily embraced for years and years, until the original relationship with the Holy Spirit, your Inner Self, is re-discovered.

You can also try Lesson 153 for yourself. Or use any lesson or concept from A Course in Miracles that resonates with you as a mental touchstone to guide you back to timeless love, effortless joy and inner peace.  I often used phrases from the Text in exactly the same way as workbook lessons.  Trust your Inner Self, the Holy Spirit.  Then you will find that the irresistible attraction of love for love is a tidal wave of clarity, well-being and embrace of the Impersonal Self you can never abandon and which never abandons You.

The House of Cards Falls When You Are Ready by Sundance Burke

The ego or mind-made false self is a house of cards that collapses completely the very instant it is realized that YOU, the perceiving consciousness, are not an object. The True Self is not difficult to realize, as it merely involves an unbiased looking at what you think and feel you are. In other words, it involves your interest in witnessing the mind’s story of self-identity.

The only real challenge to Self-realization is the issue of your readiness to face the possibility that you will have to let go of every self-concept and self-image that proves to be false by your own investigation. Even coming close to such an inquiry always provides the intuition that you are getting ready to face a great unknown. It is not uncommon to experience the fear of dying in this context. However, the intimation of death is more often related to the ego than the physical body.

So far, you have been attached to and identified with a matrix of concepts, beliefs and images about yourself, others and the world. “I am a human being, a short-lived and insignificant object (body) in a vast and enduring universe of greater things.” We don’t really say this consciously, but it is assumed by the power of our human conditioning. This human idea is called self-knowledge, but is it true? Are you really what you think or perceive? Even to contemplate or be curious about this question is a sign of your readiness for Self-realization.

It’s true, if you have been hanging your hat on mental ideas and images of self and they’re all perceived to be false, then their influence will disappear from your consciousness. However, you will never know whether your notions of self are false or true unless you put them to the test. Here are two powerful ways to test your concept and feeling of self for truth or falsehood.

First, in this moment or any other, look at any idea, image or feeling of self that arises in your awareness and ask yourself: Am I this perception?

This question really is: Am I an idea, perception, image or feeling?

Well, are you such a thing?

If not, why base your Being upon such a flimsy foundation. Nonsense does not require your serious attention. It can be safely and light-heartedly dismissed and even forgotten altogether.

The second way to test the mind is to ignore it completely for a single moment and intuit who you are in the absence of a single thought or assumption.

Check it out. Drop all knowledge and every desire for understanding and just Be.

Can you feel it?

What is the nature of this Being?

This truth cannot be realized, unless you taste what it is to be simply aware and free of all desire for a self-understanding.

If a thought arises like, “Oh, I cannot possibly be free of all thought, even for a moment.” Ignore this thought, surrender the doubt it voices and directly perceive the Being that remains and is deeper as your essence.

Yes, this is high adventure, and while it might appear to involve some risk, it does not. Just as it’s been said, “there is nothing to fear, but fear itself.” However, you cannot know this as Self-truth if fear keeps you from testing it for reality. Just as you cannot know the joy of eating without tasting the food, you must leave the idea of yourself for being.

What will you discover by self-inquiry? You will realize that beyond the mind and the individual body that it claims as self, you are Pure Consciousness, the awareness of all experience. Unknowable as anything of name or form, you are that which knows all experience.

That which you cannot know, cannot be. So, your death cannot be, because it would have to known by you, as life. Truth is not something external to you. Truth is within the Self you are. Let’s face it, as Consciousness, life is all you know now or have ever known. Death is a belief proposed by others and there aren’t any others, except as an idea and sense that is perceived by your conscious Being.

Thought-free awareness is Pure Consciousness. Essentially, this is the Self of all. Just because you can see a reflection of your Being in the mirror of mind doesn’t mean that you are that image.  The mind serves one purpose only: it points to the source from which it arises. Turn away from the mirror and realize the Self directly.

This is the way open to all who are ready.

The Cure for You

Amy crosslegged white“Who is the ‘you’ who are living in this world?”  ~Jesus (T-4.II.11:8)

Do you assume you are a person?  Is it a given that your body and your personality are “you”?

One way of describing A Course in Miracles is that it offers a cure to the delusional belief all people hold that their identity is connected to the body.  If this is a brand new thought for you, you are probably saying, “Wha???”

That’s okay.  It’s a huge turning point for every ACIM student when he or she “gets it” that everything is happening in the mind, not the body.

The only problem people have is a mental problem; it is not a brain-body problem.  Your only problem is a mind problem.  This is why Jesus tells us in Chapter 21, “Seek not to change the world.  Choose to change your mind about the world.”

Can you locate the mind?  Try to put your finger on the mind.  What is the mind composed of?  Thoughts, beliefs, ideas, concepts.  Can you touch thoughts, beliefs, ideas and concepts?

As you contemplate this, notice whether a click of recognition arises … or fear.  Recognition is the memory of God within you surfacing through ego-imposed clouds and darkness.  Fear is the voice of the ego saying, “Don’t remember!”  Don’t remember what?  Who you really are: Spirit extending naturally from the Formless, Timeless, Changeless, Innocent, Unified God-Mind which is your Source.

By the way, the ego offers us all kinds of cures for sickness and unhappiness.  Sometimes they work on the human level;  sometimes they don’t.  The nature of the ego is that it is changing, contradictory and unstable.  But the Holy Spirit offers a sure-fire cure that always works.  The central idea in Lesson 140 states:  “Only salvation can be said to cure.”

Salvation means the undoing of what never was.  The ego is the dreamer of a dream that we are separate from God.  Ego mesmerizes us by imagining bodies, from the celestial level to the human level.  Ego mind would keep us stuck in the concept of a body forever, but Lesson 140 offers us a way out, “The happy dreams the Holy Spirit brings … lead from sleep to gentle waking, so that dreams are gone.  And thus they cure for all eternity.”

We need the Holy Spirit to undo our beliefs because, as people, we are stuck within a limited ego thought system which does not want us to understand that we can be cured of personal identity.  This cure, to the ego, seems to be death.  As the beloved master Mooji says, it is only death to what you are not, but What You Truly Are is Life and Life cannot include death.

The cure for living as a person is to undo the person completely.  The person cannot undo the person; it is the Holy Spirit’s job to unravel the tangled web we elected the ego to weave.  Just withdraw your vote for darkness and complexity, and Light and Simplicity will naturally arise in the Mind of which you are an inextricable extension.

At first, improving the person seems necessary, but eventually, you get the hang of dropping the person altogether.  Let me know if this makes sense to you — email me at miracles@amytorresacim.com

The Atonement Principle

Atonement is an essential topic in A Course in Miracles. Over the years, I’ve compiled a list of references to the Atonement in order to clarify it in my own mind. They are in no particular order, but I did try to keep them short so the point would hit home 🙂 For longer explanations, read Chapter 2 and Chapter 9. Enjoy!

Jesus speaks, “Let me be to you the symbol of the end of guilt [Atonement], and look upon your brother as you would look on me.” (T-19.IV.B.6:1)

“The sole responsibility of the miracle worker is to accept the Atonement for himself.” (T-2.V.5:1)

“The sole responsibility for God’s teacher is to accept the Atonement for himself.” (M-18.4:5)

“When the Holy Spirit is permitted to look upon the defilement of the altar, He also looks immediately toward the Atonement. Nothing He perceives can induce fear. Everything that results from spiritual awareness is merely channelized toward correction. Discomfort is aroused only to bring the need for correction into awareness.” (T-2.V.7:5-7)

“Atonement might be equated with total escape from the past and total lack of interest in the future.” (ACIM, M-24.6:3 … and read the entire paragraph 6)

“The escape is brought about by your acceptance of the Atonement, which enables you to realize that your errors never really occurred.” (T-2.I.4:4)

“[The Atonement is] the acknowledgment that you are not in this world, for the world is unhappy.” T-6.II.5:7

“The full awareness of the Atonement, then, is the recognition that the separation never occurred. The ego cannot prevail against this because it is an explicit statement that the ego never occurred.” T-6.II.10:7-8

“Atonement corrects illusions, not truth. Therefore, it corrects what never was. Further, the plan for this correction was established and completed simultaneously for the Will of God is entirely apart from time. So is all reality, being of Him. The instant the idea of separation entered the mind of God’s Son, in that same instant was God’s Answer given. In time this happened very long ago. In reality it never happened at all.” (M-2. Who Are Their Pupils?)

“Any part of the Sonship can believe in error or incompleteness if he so chooses. However, if he does so, he is believing in the existence of nothingness. The correction of this error is the Atonement.” (T-2.VII.6:7-9)

“If the way seems long, let him be content. He has decided on the direction he wants to take. What more was asked of him? And having done what was required, would God withhold the rest?” ~M-22. How Are Healing and Atonement Related?

“Questioning illusions is the first step in undoing them.” ~T-3.III.2:6
(Atonement is the undoing of illusions)

“The best defense, as always, is not to attack another’s position, but rather to protect the truth.” (This is the Atonement.) ~T-3.I.2:1

“‘The wicked shall perish’ becomes a statement of Atonement, if the word ‘perish’ is understood as ‘be undone’. Every loveless thought must be undone, a wrod the ego cannot even understand. To the ego, to be undone means to be destroyed. The ego will not be destroyed because it is a part of your thought, but because it is uncreative and therefore unsharing, it will be reinterpreted to release you from fear. The part of your mind that you have given to the ego will merely return to the Kingdom, where your whole mind belongs. ” (T-5.VI.9:1-5)

The Atonement protects the truth. The Atonement denies guilt. The Atonement is the Love principle. The Atonement is the final Correction. “Atonement is the Word of God.” ~M-22.1:6
“Healing and Atonement are not related; they are identical.” ~M-22.1:1

“The teacher of God has taken accepting the Atonement for himself as his only function.” ~M-22.1:10

“The Atonement is but the way back to what was never lost.” (T-12.VIII.8:8)

“The Atonement gives you the power of a healed mind, but the power to create is of God.” (T-5.IV.7:1)

“… the Atonement which is the natural profession of the children of God is the purpose [of miracles].” (T-1.III.1:10)

Jesus says, “… I am the Atonement.” (T-1.III.4:1) [when I asked Jesus, I got, “Atonement is the resurrection.”]

“Atonement undoes all errors in this respect and thus uproots the source of fear.” (T-1.III.5:5 emphasis mine)

“But the Atonement restores spirit to its proper place.” (T-1.IV.2:10)

“The purpose of the Atonement is to restore everything to you; or rather, to restore it to your awareness. You were given everything when you were created, just as everyone was.” (T-1.IV.3:6-7)

“Accepting the Atonement for yourself means not to give support to someone’s dream of sickness and of death.” (T-28.IV.1:1)

Jesus teaches us that Atonement denies “the denial of truth” (T-12.II.1:5)

C-Intro: This is not a course in philosophical speculation, nor is it concerned with precise terminology. It is concerned only with Atonement, or the correction of perception. The means of the Atonement is forgiveness.

“The Holy Spirit has the task of undoing what the ego has made.” ~T-5.III.5:5

The sole responsibility for God’s teacher is to accept the Atonement for himself. Atonement means correction, or the undoing of errors. ~Manual for Teachers, 18. How Is Correction Made?

READ Lesson 139: I will accept Atonement for myself. (Lots of clarity and definition of Atonement.)

from Lesson 140: “Atonement does not heal the sick for that is not a cure. It takes away the guilt that makes the sickness possible.”

Miracle Principle #25: Miracles are part of an interlocking chain of forgiveness which, when completed, is the Atonement. Atonement works all the time and in all the dimensions of time. … a bit later in Chapter 1, III.9 it says, “Miracles are selective only in the sense that they are directed towards those who can use them for themselves. Since this makes it inevitable that they will extend them to others, a strong chain of Atonement is welded.”

Miracle Principle #26: Miracles represent freedom from fear. “Atoning” means “undoing.” The undoing of fear is an essential part of the Atonement value of miracles.

“ … the Atonement, which is the natural profession of the children of God, is the purpose [of miracles].” T-1.III.1:10

Jesus says in Chapter 1, “I am in charge of the process of Atonement, which I undertook to begin.” Read III. Atonement and Miracles for complete version.

“I am the only one who can perform miracles indiscriminately, because I am the Atonement. You have a role in the Atonement which I will dictate to you. Ask me which miracles you should perform. This spares you needless effort, because you will be acting under direct communication. The impersonal nature of the miracle is an essential ingredient, because it enables me to direct its application, and under my guidance miracles lead to the highly personal experience of revelation.” T-1.III.4

The Atonement is the only defense that cannot be used destructively because it is not a device you made. The Atonement principle was in effect long before the Atonement began. The principle was love and the Atonement was an act of love. Acts were not necessary before the separation, because belief in space and time did not exist. It was only after the separation that the Atonement and the conditions necessary for its fulfillment were planned. Then a defense so splendid was needed that it could not be misused, although it could be refused. Refusal could not, however, turn it into a weapon of attack, which is the inherent characteristic of other defenses. The Atonement thus becomes the only defense that is not a two-edged sword. It can only heal. ~T-2.II.4 read the rest of II. The Atonement as Defense

Chapter 9: The Acceptance of the Atonement

M-22. How are Healing and Atonement Related? “Accept Atonement and you are healed. Atonement is the word of God.”

People like to break the word “Atonement” into “at one ment,” but Ken Wapnick always protests strongly against this. His reasoning is that when we accept the Atonement for ourselves, we reach a state of at One ment which is the Unity of God’s Mind. In the meantime, Atonement is a tool and a reminder that Christianity distorted this idea and turned Atonement (and salvation) into punitive devices. Under the Holy Spirit’s guidance, we use Atonement as a loving Correction, the one “defense” that never harms because it is the Love principle–the reminder that the ego dream of separation has never actually occurred.

“Salvation is recognition that an error has been made. Atonement is acceptance the error has been corrected.” ~Helen Gordon, ACIM teacher, There’s Nothing Going On But Your Thoughts

What Students Say About Workin’ the Workbook:

“I have to say that I get a lot more from your words than I do from listening to Mooji or Eckhart Tolle!  You have a way of explaining the unexplainable that makes more sense to me. Your Smiling Face is in itself very Motivational!! Your Presence speaks volumes through your videos. Recently I even caught a glimpse of the feeling of being in the Now, and being more Spirit than person; one night I had gone to make tea in the kitchen and everything seemed “pleasantly neutral”, time didn’t matter, things weren’t good or bad, and common familiar objects seemed fascinating, in a low key sort of way….  : )) The Workbook IS Starting to Sink In, Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!” ~Cathy Valley, WtW student

“I have truly enjoyed working the workbook with you. It has given me the motivation and grace I needed to get back into the Course in Miracles. You are an inspiring and connected teacher. Thank you and Great Love to you.”  ~Mary Kay Raponi, carsoncityyoga.com

“Many teachers are out there. Some teach from experience. Some teach from other people’s experience (reading books and their take on meanings). Amy uses both effectively. This Course in Miracles, and all the other teachers Amy gathers, are a very interesting crew. Of all of them I’ve listened to, only Amy reached out from the facade of professionalism to show kindness in my darkest hour. It was more than I ever expected. It was personal attention. In my experience, this never happened before. This is a teacher who imitated the Master … Jesus. I trust Amy, and God, and of course, Jesus. Amy is here now … and my life has become a more trusting experience due to her caring way.” –Bob Turano, artist, gardener, mystic and WtW student.

“I think that your program is awesome. I like your journey and enthusiasm to share about it and the Course and non-dual teachings.” –Sabrina, WtW student

Previous to the above email, Bob had written me, “Since signing up for Workin’ the Workbook, things are going great! I’m having awesome energy releases from child traumas…..lots of birth stuff from forceps birth to bully encounters. Bad dreams are gone…..intestinal distress is gone….instead of being old I’m new……at last!” Then came a housing crisis, followed by prayer and then, within one week, a breakthrough. Bob is now in a beautiful living situation, after which he wrote me what you read. Many thanks to you, Bob, for entering into holy partnership so Spirit could work through us (and thanks to Bill Free, who joined us in prayer and communicated pure Faith to Bob, as well).

“Hello Amy (Junkyo), How wonderful to hear from you and how wonderful to see you in person in NYC! You are indeed my Junkyo so you can imagine the pride and joy I felt seeing you host this incredible film…am still walking around with the vivid impressions of the event.” –Julio Espada, artist, NYC on Amy’s appearance at CRS with founder Yasuko Kasaki:

“Just wanted to tell you it’s been great to do my daily lesson with you. Your explanation clears up a lot of things and I love the communion.” –SS, WtW student, Miami

“I am so much enjoying your teaching.  I think that this is my fifth time through the WB and, boy, is it becoming illuminated!”  –Roger Beech, Australia, WtW student

“Thank you so much for all that you do for us.  You make the lessons so clear.  For so long I avoided the Course, though I had been drawn to it for years.  I bought the Course and gave it away several times but, just about the time I bought it last, I came across you and things fell together.  For those who would really like an in-depth understanding of the course….Amy Torres can take you there…..and then some! Thank you.  Peace.”  –Scott McClintic, WtW student

“Thank you so much for the year of guidance and support! I have 63 lessons to go and am thankful for your backlog of lessons to keep me company. I can’t even remember why or how I first decided to buy the “Blue Book”, but I knew immediately that it contained truth I had to have (remember?). Soon enough I also realized I needed a little help and that led me to you. For the moments I felt “raw”, unbalanced, not “tuned in” , etc….along came your amazingly timed reassurances and insights. I’m so glad to have found ACIM and you!” –Whitni Funsinn, WtW student

“Amy, today it felt like your explaining the lessons is like going to the eye doctor.  They put numerous lenses in front of your eyes until you can see clearly.  That is what you are doing for me.  You teach with such clarity.  I do the workbook lesson everyday with you with my morning coffee. I am very greatful to you for sharing your understanding.  I have been through the workbook many times on my own and it has definitely taken on a new dimension sharing it with you.  Thank you.”  –Monica Carradori, New Jersey, WtW student

“Thank you for this beautiful offering. I have enjoyed your words of wisdom. With Love & Gratitude.” ~DF, WtW student

“When I listen to you, Amy, I am in touch with gentle humor and lightness along with a commitment to the practices of the Workbook.  You are like a deep pool of fresh water.  Thank you for sharing your light. You are a projection that is very lovable!” –Marcia Pinneau, WtW student

“Amy, I am just loving your online WtW class. When you make connections with the text it illuminates my understanding of the workbook lessons. Your warm, natural presence is calming and inspiring. Your availability to answer email questions personally, and your interaction with us in the WtW Facebook group shows how much you care about each of your students. I can truly say that the Course is coming alive inside me. I see positive changes in my relationships and my faith is growing in leaps and bounds. And it’s so fun that your cats Gatita and Smudges have cameo appearances. Thank you!” –Harper Wood, NY, WtW student

“WtW has been a real blessing and your teachings are much more than I could have ever imagined. You are very clear in explaining the Course — there’s no room for misinterpretation. Your real life examples of your experiences of going through the Course also help me tremendously. By the way, I love your website. It’s done simply and tastefully and it is extremely easy to navigate. (I’m a designer, so I’m a stickler for this sort of thing!)” –N. Silva, WtW student

“If you study with Amy, you are in good hands.  She is totally dialed into her calling.” –J. Ellen, WtW student

“Joining Workin’ the Workbook with Amy was the best thing I did for myself in 2013!” – Jack Hrabak, IL, WtW student

“Your videos are way better than doing the lessons alone. I love the online class and knowing I can access the info anytime 24/7.” – Julie, MA, WtW student

“Your Workin’ the Workbook videos take the difficulty out of the lessons in a way that is truly helpful! I do the videos on my phone, iPad, computer, and Kindle. And the WtW Facebook support group is the best use of Facebook in its history.” – Morgan, NY, WtW student

“I wanted to let you know that I am loving the Workin’ the Workbook program. It’s my third time through and I am benefitting more than ever because of your classes.” – Jenn, Chicago, WtW student

“Amy, I want you to know that in addition to your excellent research of Course passages that relate to certain lessons, as well as insight on the lessons themselves, the viewer also receives such wonderful non-verbals from every aspect of you.  And they all communicate peace, joy and love.  You can be deeply concentrating on reading something to us, and the non-verbals are paving the way for us to be receptive.  They tell us, ‘It’s all right to let your guard down and be open.  There is nothing to fear.’  It tells us our teacher has done the work, and we sense the fruits of your labor as the Holy Spirit comes through you so beautifully and smoothly.  Thank you!”  –Rick Bryant, musician, WtW student

“I’m in quite a few ACIM groups. For me, Workin’ the Workbook is the gentlest, most fun-loving, soul-searching, and caring one of them all. A place to say exactly how I’m feeling, without a sense of attack from others. That’s huge for me. What a gift this group and all its treasures hold out to me on a daily basis. Thank you, Amy!” –Lynne L., Canada, WtW student

“I love it when you take the Lesson paragraph by paragraph, and mention additional readings we can do on our own, or especially posting these extra readings in the classroom. I can’t believe it, but the depressed me has turned into the happy me!  By now, I feel so mellow and trusting with you, Amy, it really doesn’t matter anymore what you do! –Genie Reisdorf, WtW student in 7th month of program

“I want to share a miracle: I listened to a colleague vent about one of her workers who is displaying some passive aggressive behavior that is totally unprofessional. Grumple, gripe, etc. Because of WtW and your coaching, I listened and had the presence of mind to ask the Holy Spirit how to respond. I didn’t want to participate in this “bash Tom” session. In the end, I had something valuable to say that (1) didn’t condemn anyone, and (2) provided support to my colleague without correcting her. ACIM WORKS! I had peace yesterday morning. From the look on my colleague’s face, she seemed to get something out of my comments. Although she did tease me by saying, ‘I’m sending him into talk to you next time!’ Amy, thank you for your class and your support!” –WtW Student

What People Say About Sessions with Amy:

“I completely enjoyed our conversation and came home afterwards and spoke lovingly and firmly with my mother. We broke through barriers, smashed walls, got honest, cried and held each other. Miraculous! You are a healer. Thank you, Amy!” –Stephanie Miller, Wichita, KS

“You really helped me see all my life in a new love-based perspective. I am ever so grateful.  I feel my shell has finally been cracked and I am free to live in peace. Thank you so much, Amy. Love and blessings.” –Marjo-Kaisu, Finland

“Amy, when we finished our session Monday night, I felt like I was placed out of the time I was in. Yesterday I woke & my energy was different? Bless you & I will keep practicing!!” With Love,
Angela DiMarzo, NJ

“Amy, I wanted to thank you so much!  A couple months ago I had a session with you in conjunction with an online class I was taking with you.  I had been having issues with energies in my house.  You reassured me and turned me onto some processes by Babaji to clear and close my aura.  I have been doing that routinely and these issues have greatly subsided along with the fear.  For 3 yrs I have getting NASA tests done with my chiropractor and he was concerned bec ause my fight or flight responses were chronically in the dangerous zone for my health.  Last week I had another of these tests:  TOTALLY NORMAL!   I think this classifies as a miracle!  Thought you’d like to hear.”  –Jane Huelsmann, Missouri
“I had quite a shift after our last session. I was quite upset still at the end, but I chanted [the abundance chant you gave me] all the way to work and I felt a lot more at peace but still a little low. But when I got to work, my colleague (and friend) was showing me something silly and we were laughing so hard. And I later realised how I was very in ego, and resistant and just wanting an answer of what to do. It was really freeing to realise. And then the following day I starting chanting the abundance chant periodically and out of nowhere. I feel really connected to it, and have started doing it daily, just because I like it, not necessarily for an outcome (although sometimes my mind slips into wanting an outcome). And then the following day after I started the Lakshmi chant I realised that I had an oversight about my pay and realised i totally forgot that I still have one more pay from the job i just finished and have quite a bit extra cash than I was expecting. Yay!!!
I had got out of my head and just allowed. And then I had a really nice last 2 days at work, and a shift in perspective about the work I do. And realised how lucky I am. So, I feel I am ready to commit to continuing to generate that gratitude in this job whilst I also focus on giving my direction over to the Holy Spirit. And I no longer feel like my new life direction has to happen immediately. I am open to it taking some time and have decided to stay where I am living for maybe a year or so, to just allow myself to be in one place and focus on this, instead of focussing on ‘where am I going next, will I have enough money, got to get another job etc etc.” With love and gratitude, N
“After 10 days of intensive and successful work, I came to Amy with a solid block of tension in my neck and shoulders. She guided me to go within and in only five minutes, not only did I experience a physical release (from a jack hammer pounding sensation to a pebble dropping into water and creating gentle ripples of relief through my neck and shoulder) but I also, quite unexpectedly, had an emotional release. I teared up and felt myself re-calibrate. It was as if in those five short minutes, I was able to integrate the 10 days of intensive work, release the stress of it and feel the joy of it flood my system. It was nothing short of amazing! Even though we were working via video conferencing, I felt Amy’s “touch.” Her guidance revealed to me that I could process and integrate tension which, otherwise, I would have put up with for as long as it took to subside.” ~Lizzie Merritt

“Amy guides us gently until we reach the Holy Spirit’s guidance. What a teacher!”  –Jack Hrabak, retired, Springfield, IL

“I’ve yet to have a counselor, and I’ve had several, who has been as truly helpful as you.”  –MN, film editor

“Working with you is training in not thinking!” –WP, Chicago

“Thanks for being a teacher of the course, you are my answered prayer :)” –ACIM student, Canada

“I told my friends and family how you helped me shrink my tumor to two-thirds of the original size by accessing thoughts held in my body. And over the phone!!!  You really are amazing, Amy.” –BC, artist

“Words from my heart:  I worked with Amy years ago. I believe I was just 40 at the time.  I was struggling with issues in my life that I was carrying with me like a heavy weight on my heart, and these were things I wasn’t able to resolve on my own.  A friend of mine suggested I go and just talk with Amy.  It was the best thing I could have ever done.
I was scared and reluctant to open up old wounds that I thought I had dealt with, but after my first session with Amy and tons of tissues later from crying, I knew my journey was just beginning but I also knew there was a light at the end of my emotional tunnel.
We worked session by session, minute by minute, making strides at what I call my Emotional Freedom Journey.  While working with Amy, she led me on a path to realize that the things I was dealing with were real, and hurtful, and that it was ok to feel how I felt and it was neither right or wrong to feel how I felt.  She helped me come to my own realizations that not every day would be amazing at that point in time, and to allow myself to heal, cry, and just be.  She taught me how to be kind to myself, to love myself first, and to understand that the people in my life were put there for a reason, may they be great or not so great, and to forgive not only myself, but others, for any wrong that went on in my life.  Her words, and just her way of explaining and teaching me were kind, and gentle and made me feel safe every time we spoke.
She had the knowledge, the wisdom, and the kindness to understand me, not judge me and to allow me to just let it all hang out at every single session and to talk about whatever I needed to talk about.  She listened with an understanding ear and made me realize that what I was dealing with was NOT SO OUT of the ordinary, and that the decisions I was making as an adult were being dictated by the emotional baggage I was carrying with me thru my years.  Thru our work together, She taught me that we all hold our own answers.  She never once told me what to do, but only guided me in the right direction at discovering that I was going to be alright in my life.
Today at 50, I look at my life and I can say that everything I learned from Amy I still carry with me.  There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t use the tools and the wisdom that she taught me about being the best me that I could be.  I am forever grateful to have had this amazing teacher in my life!  You helped me more than you will every know!  Thank you Amy…..thank you!” –Debra Toscano, Singer/Actress

“You teach me to treasure myself. Thank you, Amy.” –MM, Atlanta, GA

“I can undoubtedly say that I would not be in the place I am at this moment without your love, patience, wisdom, non-judgment, humor and empathy.  You have been one of the most important teachers in my life.  In the beginning of our work together, I kept having images of an outer shell shattering off my skin, revealing a brilliantly colored under-self.  Thank you for being my ‘healing angel’.”   –Aimee P, artist, Italy

“The deep emotional and spiritual work I have done with you over the past eight months or so has brought me back in touch with the Self I thought I had lost. I see the world with new eyes, and life is a miracle to me now, a gift. In the midst of life’s inevitable challenges, or when the harsh voices from my past resurface, your voice, Amy, reminds me to trust my own inner wisdom, trust that we are all here together for a purpose.”  –Robin S., college professor

“I bought A Course in Miracles years ago, but was unable to digest it on my own. Amy, your counsel has deepened my beliefs and your class has further exposed me to others who are on a path of awareness, as I am. My relationship with you is like a stone dropped in the water … it continues to ripple out in the most positive and unexpected ways, that I could not have dreamed for myself two years ago.”  –Jayne, NYC

“I can’t resist telling people how helpful it is doing the Course with you.  There are people out there who really want this kind of support and must know about you. You’re an amazing teacher. Thank YOU!” –WtW Student

“Amy supported me through the most difficult time of my life–I came to her newly separated at the end of a 15-year marriage. She calmly led me through the dark waters of despair, patiently awaiting my rebirth with steadfast assuredness and a gentle, open heart. Her faith strengthened me with an entirely new way of looking at love, life and my place in the world. The shift was seismic, yet gentle, like being awoken from a bad dream. I am honestly happier than I’ve ever been, knowing LOVE for the very first time, in a healthy, balanced relationship and engaged to be married this year.”  –VW, writer/blogger

“I was fortunate to find Amy Torres at a time when I felt stuck in my career and unsure of the road my personal life was taking. I felt I had no direction and I didn’t feel capable of making clear decisions. Most of all, I needed someone I could trust. With Amy’s support and through our work together, I discovered many things about myself. The most important thing was that I discovered my self-confidence. This discovery has allowed me to make many life changing decisions. I relocated, changed careers, got married and I am happy. I would strongly recommend Amy as a coach and counselor to anyone trying to make a life change.”  –JZ, radio networker

“Thank you, Amy. Your threads of wisdom and support are woven into the tapestry of this studio.  From my whole heart I am so grateful for your presence in my life.  Om shanti shanti shanti.”   –EL, yoga studio owner

“I was immediately taken with Amy’s interest in my well being, not my ‘problems’ or ‘issues.’  I had been living in fear, shame and lack.  I started to live in faith, connection and trust.  I look forward to my future now, instead of dreading it like I used to.”  –JN, athlete

What People Say About Amy’s Classes  and Satsang with Amy:

“Amy’s class is a big hug. In the loving environment she creates, I rise to my Higher Self.” –Victoria Weill, Artist

“In a loving, non-judgmental and gentle manner, Amy is able to steer those off Course back to Truth.” –Steve Rosenbloom, longtime ACIM student

“I love your approach of diving in to what seems the most difficult, only to find it is total blessing. All blessings to you.”  –kironJ, Miracle Network UK

“…the experience I had in your class was unique and holy. Although I do not remember the specific content of the presentation, I cannot stop thinking about that beautiful place I went during your conference. I have had many very real experiences in my prior meditations, but the place which you took me was very special. Thank you for being such a beautiful being and for opening the door to my truth. I must confess that writing this e-mail gives me a great feeling, as if I am writing to my brother Jesus, but I feel that there is no difference. You are special, you are unique.  Thank you for your beautiful light and love.” –Reynaldo Rodriguez, ACIM 2016 Las Vegas conference attendee

“Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy and benefit from your study group .. it’s like the scales are falling off my eyes … it never fails to lift me up no matter what else has been going on during the day.”  –John Lucas, Artist & Art Gallery Owner

“Your class is one of the important, life-changing events of my life right now. Though I am quite young and still desire many tangible things in this world, I wish for my life to be full of soulfulness and spirituality, including the people with whom I share my life. Your teaching of the Course is a gift–it supports me in finding truth and meaning on my path. You are wonderful.”  –Lauren Becker, Psychologist

“I wanted to share something that impacted me from your class. You mentioned; “I’m not interested in seeing the body/form, I’m interested in seeing what’s beyond the smile.”  For so long I have practiced being “willing to overlook what is not there,” but did not always find this tool helpful.  Being interested in one’s light and losing interest in one’s form on the other hand is very helpful to me!  Just in the last couple of days I have easily switched from being nervous around bodies (which is still often the case for me) and invested in seeking for the light in them—which surfaces with a smile or kind gesture that builds instant confidence in me.  So thank you for offering these tools to so many of us.  You continue to inspire and I am so grateful for your devotion to God.” ~Brad Oliphant, Lessons in Love from A Course in Miracles

“I have been on various ‘spiritual’ journeys over the past many years. I have found comfort and inspiration in most, yet, something always seemed to be missing…. Then I found ACIM (or, more accurately, it found me) and it felt as though I was home. Then, I stumbled upon Amy’s group and what a blessing that was! Amy was so welcoming, loving and safe–she really helped me make more sense of ACIM, while not projecting any of her own issues onto the group. She is a Teacher of God. Thank you for sharing all your vast knowledge with us, Amy. She makes ‘Constant Vigilance’ fun!!!!”  –Regina O’Malley, Teacher

“I like the way everyone gets a chance to read from ACIM and they start to express things they know about it and we learn about their life stories and how they have applied the Course. I always feel drawn to your class, and I’m very comfortable there. I wonder what it does for me, but I always end up wanting to come back. There’s something about it that makes me relax. And I like you teaching bare-footed, professionally.”  –Bill Ryan, Tractor Trailer Driver

“From the first day I attended class I knew I was in the right place. Amy provides a warm and safe space for everyone to both learn and express themselves freely. The discussions are fun while also stimulating. I always look forward to attending and am benefitting greatly from this experience. What a blessing. Thank you Amy!!” –Diana Chacon, Psychologist

“Amy’s understanding and teaching of the Course has been instrumental in my spiritual growth. Her approach is clear and specific. She has an innate ability to be gentle and loving throughout the challenging process of examining one’s deeply rooted belief system. I strongly recommend her class for those that are driven by the search for the Truth.”  –Jenny S.

“Last night I thought you did a fabulous job leading the circle. I really saw you in action … what I saw was the way you allow people to think the Course through while holding the line with the Course, lovingly. I’m very thankful for your presence in my life.” –Barbara B.

Thunderbolts of Truth is the BEST!!! Course in Miracles Mooji interview ever recorded. So very complete and leaving no important questions un-answered… Nicely done Amy Torres!” –ACIM and Mooji devotee

“Beloved Master, A great interview and direct pointing. Thank you for this. <3” –Bill (Rishi) Free, www.teachersofgod.org

“Amy, this is one of the most complete interviews I’ve ever heard with Mooji. While I’m not what anyONE would consider a focused ACIM “student,” I’ve enough understanding of it to have followed the path of your guided questions through the Course lens. But, I also recognized, as the “conversation” proceeded, that this is meant for all to hear, regardless of system, or religion (or none), or grade of “spirituality.” Mooji is the clearest I’ve yet heard him, the most easily absorbed with every next, next and next you gave him. Something very special happened in this hour plus. The love alone is enough reason to watch/listen and his final prayer a gift to the world. Thank you so much for opening your heart to this happening. I will visit it again, perhaps many times. Much and gratitude.” –Ardith Oakes, Connecticut, USA

“Amy, wanted you to know that I was deeply touched by your sweet, sweet interview with Mooji.  I am listening.  Thank you so much for YOUR JOURNEY because it is most certainly positively impacting mine.” –With great respect and love, Diane Marie, Florida, USA

“In the depths of despair I begged Jesus to ‘show me my teacher.’  When I came back to the computer there you were!  I ignored you at first because I never heard of you. But Jesus encouraged me to listen to “Five Keys to Forgiveness” and then the Webinar on “Special Relationships” and I was completely captivated.  God bless you.” –Jamaica

“Amy, you have accompanied me with your YouTube videos when I did my first round workbook lessons.  Your smiles and loving voice and certainty has given me great support along the way!  Thank you with all my heart.”  –Vistara, Germany

“I love listening to you, your voice is soft and gentle, I listen to you all night as a comforter. Thank you.” –IW, Australia

“I am finding your delivery style and insight very helpful. Thank you very much for taking the effort to produce/post them. I look forward to viewing many more.”  –Joe Voyager

“That was super interesting. I am going to practice tonight.”  –Maureen Muldoon on A Course in Miracles Barefoot

“Fabulous discussion. …  Having been unwell for an extended period over the last 2 plus years, I can certainly identify with the heaviness of the body and at one point about 15 months ago, was perfectly OK with death.  A Course in Miracles is making much more sense now.  Thank you for the wonderful interview.”  –Leslie Kasza on A Happy Conversation about Death with Jon Mundy

“Amy thanks for this. It really makes the Course a bit more digestible. These types of videos are helpful as I’m always looking for supplementary information to help understand ACIM.”  –Britt on Metaphysics of A Course in Miracles

“I watched Amy’s interview with Mooji on you tube, and it brought me so much peace to see a course in Miracles teacher and student having such a pure conversation with Mooji, since I was truly struggling with guilt and ego confusion, feeling that I had to choose between ACIM or Mooji and a lot other fears and confusions , Amy was gracious enough to have a Skype date with me, and talk to me. Talking to her gave me confidence and peace and a  feeling of there is people out there who get me and have gone through this themselves. Thank you Amy!!” –Stephanie, Miami, FL

Ask Amy: How Does God Know What’s Best for Us If He Doesn’t Even Know We’re Here?

Guy QuestionQ:  I think I’m having a little crisis.  How does God know what is best for us if he doesn’t even know we are here?  How can I have trust/faith with this notion?  Another ACIM teacher told me “But the Holy Spirit knows you are here.”  What do you think, Amy?

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAA:  It is true that A Course in Miracles explains that God doesn’t know we’re here.  Many ACIM students find this scary and even devastating.  It begins to make sense, and actually feel comforting and liberating, when we realize that God doesn’t know we’re “here” because we’re not “here” — we’re with Him in Heaven.

Heaven is a metaphor for being eternally alive and unified in the formless Mind of God.  We are God’s Creation, and we are always joined together in a Limitless Life of Creating and Being Love.

Remember, the metaphysics of the Course teach us that this world, our bodies and belief that we are separate people with personal lives is only a dream!  Once we accept that we are dreaming (and, in fact, that we are the dreamer of this dream) then it makes sense that God doesn’t know we’re here because we’ve never left Him.  Just because we dream that we have separated from the Wholeness of His Mind, doesn’t make it so.

“You are at home in God, dreaming of exile but perfectly capable of awakening to reality.  Is it your decision to do so?” (T-10.I.2:1)

God’s Holy Spirit lives within us as a memory of our True Self.  The Holy Spirit can be visualized as Light, like a lighthouse illuminating the way Home.  When we decide to awaken to reality, we feel motivated to look towards the Holy Spirit’s Light more and more.  Following His Loving guidance strengthens our trust and faith.

Lesson 26 puts it like this, “My home awaits me.  I will hasten there.  If I so choose, I can depart this world entirely.  It is not death which makes this possible, but it is change of mind about the purpose of the world.  If I believe it has a value as I see it now, so will it still remain for me.  But if I see no value in the world as I behold it, nothing that I want to keep as mine or search for as a goal, it will depart from me.  For I have not sought for illusions to replace the truth.

Father, my home awaits my glad return.  Your Arms are open and I hear Your Voice.  What need have I to linger in a place of vain desires and of shattered dreams, when Heaven can so easily be mine?”

Symptoms of Spiritual Awakening & DNA Activation

52 SYMPTOMS of SPIRITUAL AWAKENING by Karen Bishop

1. Changing sleep patterns: restlessness, hot feet, waking up two or three times a night. Feeling tired after you wake up and sleepy off and on during the day. There is something called the Triad Sleep Pattern that occurs for many: you sleep for about 2-3 hours, wake up, go back to sleep for another couple of hours, wake again, and go back to sleep again. For others, the sleep requirements have changed. You can get by on less sleep. Lately I have been experiencing huge waves of energy running into my body from the crown. It feels good, but it keeps me awake for a long time, then subsides.

Advice: Get used to it. Make peace with it and don’t worry about getting enough sleep (which often causes more insomnia). You will be able to make it through the day if you hold thoughts of getting just what you need. You can also request your Higher Power to give you a break now and then and give you a good, deep night’s sleep. If you can’t go back to sleep right away, use the waking moments to meditate, read poetry, write in your journal or look at the moon. Your body will adjust to the new pattern.

2. Activity at the crown of the head: Tingling, itching, prickly, crawling sensations along the scalp and/or down the spine. A sense of energy vibrating on top of the head, as if energy is erupting from the head in a shower. Also the sensation of energy pouring in through the crown, described as “sprinkles”. This may also be experienced as pressure on the crown, as if someone is pushing his/her finger into the center of your head. As I mentioned in #1, I have been experiencing huge downloads of energy through the crown. In the past, I have felt more generalized pressure, as if my head is in a gentle vise. One man related that his hair stood on end and his body was covered with goosebumps.

Advice: This is nothing to be alarmed about. What you are experiencing is an opening of the crown chakra. The sensations mean that you are opening up to receive divine energy.

3. Sudden waves of emotion. Crying at the drop of a hat. Feeling suddenly angry or sad with little provocation. Or inexplicably depressed. Then very happy. Emotional roller coaster. There is often a pressure or sense of emotions congested in the heart chakra (the middle of the chest). This is not to be confused with the heart, which is located to the left of the heart chakra.

Advice: Accept your feelings as they come up and let them go. Go directly to your heart chakra and feel the emotion. Expand it outward to your all your fields and breathe deeply from the belly all the way up to your upper chest. Just feel the feeling and let it evaporate on its own. Don’t direct the emotions at anyone. You are cleaning out your past. If you want some help with this, say out loud that you intend to release all these old issues and ask your Higher Power to help you. You can also ask Grace Elohim to help you release with ease and gentleness. Be grateful that your body is releasing these emotions and not holding onto them inside where they can do harm. One source suggests that depression is linked to letting go of relationships to people, work, etc. that no longer match us and our frequencies. When we feel guilty about letting go of these relationships, depression helps us medicate that pain.

4. Old “stuff” seems to be coming up, as described above, and the people with whom you need to work it out (or their clones) appear in your life. Completion issues. Or perhaps you need to work through issues of self-worth, abundance, creativity, addictions, etc. The resources or people you need to help you move through these issues start to appear.

Advice: Same as #3. Additionally, don’t get too involved in analyzing these issues. Examining them too much will simply cycle you back through them over and over again at deeper and deeper levels. Get professional help if you need to and walk through it. Do not try to avoid them or disassociate yourself from them. Embrace whatever comes up and thank it for helping you move ahead. Thank your Higher Power for giving you the opportunity to release these issues. Remember, you don’t want these issues to stay stuck in your body.

5. Changes in weight. The weight gain in the US population is phenomenal. Other people may be losing weight. We often gain weight because many fears we have suppressed are now coming up to the surface to be healed. We react by building up a defense. We also attempt to ground ourselves or provide bulk against increasing frequencies in our bodies.

Advice: Don’t freak out, but just accept it as a symptom of where you are right now. You will release/gain the weight when all your fears have been integrated. Release your anxiety about this. Then you might find it easier to lose/gain the weight eventually. Exercise. Before eating, try this: Sit at the table with an attractive place setting. Light a candle. Enjoy how the food looks. Place your dominant hand over your heart and bless the food. Tell your body that you are going to use the food to richly nourish it, but that you are not going to use the food to fulfill your emotional hungers. Then pass your hand from left to right over the food and bless it. You may notice that the food feels warm to your hand even if the food is cold– I like to think that the food is good for me when it feels warm and nourishing to my hand. I have also noticed that when I practice blessing the food, I don’t eat as much. It is important not to let yourself off the hook when you forget to bless the food before you eat. If I’ve forgotten and I’ve nearly finished eating, I bless the food anyway. That way I don’t slip out of the habit. Another thing you can do is to stay present while eating — don’t watch TV or read. Heartily enjoy what blessings are before you.

6. Changes in eating habits: Strange cravings and odd food choices. Some find they are not as hungry as they used to be. Or hungrier.

Advice: Don’t deny what your body tells you it needs. If you are not sure, you might try muscle-testing before you chose a food to see if it’s what your body wants. Also try blessing the food as described in #5.

7. Food intolerances, allergies you never had before: As you grow more spiritual, you are more sensitive to everything around you. Your body will tell you what it can no longer tolerate, as if it, too, is sloughing off what doesn’t serve it anymore. You might be cleansing yourself of toxins.
Some people find they often have a white residue in their mouth, much like that of runners at the end of a race.

Advice: An acupuncturist told me that this film can be removed by sloshing 2 tablespoons of cold-pressed olive oil in your mouth for 10-15 minutes (don’t swallow, whatever you do), then spitting it out into the toilet — not the sink, for you just removed toxins from your body and don’t want them in the sink. Brush your teeth and do the same. Then clean your brush.
(Sorry this is yukky, but it works.)

8. Amplification of the senses. Increased sensitivity.

8a. Sight: Blurry vision, shimmering objects, seeing glittery particles, auras around people, plants, animals, and objects. Some report seeing formerly opaque objects as transparent. When you close your eyes, you no longer see darkness, but a redness. You may also see geometric shapes or brilliant colors and pictures when eyes are closed. Colors appear more vivid — the sky might look teal or the grass an amazing green. Often I see grids running across the ground. As you become more sensitive, you may see shapes or outlines in the air, especially when the room is almost dark. When your eyes are open or closed, you may see white shapes in your peripheral vision (these are your guides).

Advice: Your vision is changing in many ways — you are experiencing new ways of seeing. Be patient. Whatever you do, do not be afraid. Hazy vision may be relieved by yawning.

8b. Hearing: Increased or decreased hearing. I once thought I would have to pull off the road because of the painfully amplified sound of my tires on the freeway. Other symptoms are hearing white noise in the head, beeps, tones, music or electronic patterns. Some hear water rushing, bees buzzing, whooshing, roaring or ringing. Others have what is called audio dyslexia– you can’t always make out what people are saying, as if you can no longer translate your own language. Some hear strange voices in their dreams, as if someone is hovering near them. You can either ask the presence(s) to leave or ask Archangel Michael to take care of the situation. Again, there is nothing to fear.

Advice: Surrender to it. Let it come through. Listen. Your ears are adjusting to new frequencies.

8c. Enhanced senses of smell, touch, and/or taste. I notice I can now smell and taste chemical additives in some foods in a rather unpleasant manner. Other food may taste absolutely wonderful. For some people, these enhancements are both delightful and distracting. You might even smell the fragrance of flowers now and then. Many of the mystics did. Enjoy it.

9. Skin eruptions: Rashes, bumps, acne, hives, and shingles. Anger produces outbreaks around the mouth and chin. I had a dermatitis on my extremities for several months that accompanied healing an episode from my past. When I had worked through most of the issue, the condition was released.

Advice: You may be sloughing off toxins and bringing emotions to the surface. When there is an issue to be released and you are trying to repress it, your skin will express the issue for you until you process the emotions. Work through your “stuff”.

10. Episodes of intense energy which make you want to leap out of bed and into action. Followed by periods of lethargy and fatigue. The fatigue usually follows great shifts. This is a time of integration, so give into it.

Advice: Roll with the nature of the energy. Don’t fight it. Be gentle with yourself. Take naps if you are tired. Write your novel if you are too energized to sleep. Take advantage of the type of energy.

11. Changes in prayer or meditation. Not feeling the same sensations as before. Not having the same experience of being in contact with Spirit. Difficulty in focusing.

Advice: You may be in more instant and constant communion with Spirit now and the sensation may therefore be altered. You will adapt to this new feeling. You are actually thinking acting in partnership with Spirit most of the time now. You may find your meditation periods shorter.

12. Power surges: All of a sudden you are heated from head to toe. It is a momentary sensation, but uncomfortable. In contrast, some people have felt inexplicably cold. I have experienced both. More recently I experience waves or currents of energy rolling through me. Sometimes the energy seems so intense when it first comes into my body that I feel a little nauseated. But if I think of the energy as divine and let go of fear, I feel wonderful and enjoy the sensation. If you are an energy worker, you may have noticed that the heat running through your hands has increased tremendously. This is good.

Advice: If you are uncomfortable, ask your Higher Power, that if it be for your best and highest good, to turn down/up the temperature a bit.

13. A range of physical manifestations: Headaches, backaches, neck pains, flu-like symptoms (this is called vibrational flu), digestive problems, muscular spasms or cramps, racing heartbeat, chest pains, changes in sexual desire, numbness or pain in the limbs, and involuntary vocalizations or bodily movements. Some of us have even had old conditions from childhood reappear briefly for healing.

Advice: Remember what I said about seeking medical help if you need it! If you have determined that this is not a medical condition, relax in the realization that it is only temporary.

14. Looking younger. Yippee! As you clear emotional issues and release limiting beliefs and heavy baggage from the past, you are actually lighter. Your frequency is higher. You love yourself and life more. You begin to resemble the perfect you that you really are.

15. Vivid dreams. Sometimes the dreams are so real that you wake up confused. You may even have lucid dreams in which you are in control. Many dreams may be mystical or carry messages for you. And in some dreams, you just know that you are not “dreaming” — that what is happening is somehow real.

Advice: You will remember what is important for you to remember. Don’t force anything. Above all, stay out of fear.

16. Events that completely alter your life: death, divorce, change in job status, loss of home, illness, and/or other catastrophes — sometimes several at once! Forces that cause you to slow down, simplify, change, re-examine who you are and what your life means to you. Forces that you cannot ignore. Forces that cause you release your attachments. Forces that awaken your sense of love and compassion for all.

17. A desire to break free from restrictive patterns, life-draining jobs consumptive lifestyles, and toxic people or situations. You feel a compelling need to “find yourself” and your life purpose — now! You want to be creative and free to be who you really are. You might find yourself drawn to the arts and nature. You want to unclutter yourself from things and people that no longer serve you.

Advice: Do it!

18. Emotional and mental confusion: A feeling that you need to get your life straightened out–it feels like a mess. But at the same time you feel chaotic and unable to focus. See #45.

Advice: Put your ear to your heart and your own discernment will follow.

19. Introspection, solitude and loss of interest in more extraverted activities: This stage has come as a surprise to many extraverts who formerly saw themselves as outgoing and involved. They say, “I don’t know why, but I don’t like to go out as much as before.”

20. Creativity bursts: Receiving images, ideas, music, and other creative inspirations at an often overwhelming rate.

Advice: At least record these inspirations, for Spirit is speaking to you about how you might fulfill your purpose and contribute to the healing of the planet.

21. A perception that time is accelerating. It seems that way because you have had so many changes introduced into your life at an unprecedented rate. The number of changes seems to be growing.

Advice: Breaking your day up into appointments and time segments increases the sense of acceleration .You can slow time down by relaxing into the present moment and paying attention to what’s at hand, not anticipating what’s ahead. Slow down and tell yourself that you have plenty of time. Ask your Higher Power to help you. Keep your focus on the present. Try to flow from one activity to the next. Stay tuned to your inner guidance… You can also warp time by asking for it. Next time you feel rushed, say, “Time warp, please. I need some more time to —–.” Then relax.

22. A sense of impendingness. There is a feeling that something is about to happen. This can create anxiety.

Advice: There is nothing to worry about. Things are definitely happening, but anxiety only creates more problems for you. All your thoughts — positive or negative– are prayers. There is nothing to fear.

23. Impatience. You know better, but sometimes you can’t help it. You want to get on with what seems to be coming your way. Uncertainty is not comfortable.

Advice: Learn to live with the uncertainty, knowing that nothing comes to you until you are ready. Impatience is really a lack of trust, especially trust in your Higher Power. When you focus on the present, you will experience miracles — yes, even in traffic.

24. A deep yearning for meaning, purpose, spiritual connection, and revelation. Perhaps an interest in the spiritual for the first time in your life. “Constant craving”, as k.d. lang says. The material world cannot fulfill this longing.

Advice: Follow your heart and the way will open up for you.

25. A feeling that you are somehow different. A disquieting sense that everything in your life feels new and altered, that you have left your old self behind. You have. You are much greater than you can possibly imagine. There is more to come.

26. “Teachers” appear everywhere with perfect timing to help you on your spiritual journey: people, books, movies, events, Mother Nature, etc. Teachers may appear to be negative or positive when you are trapped in polarity thinking, but, from a transcendent perspective, they are always perfect. Just what you need to learn from and move on. By the way, we never get more than we are ready to master. Each challenge presents us with an opportunity to show our mastery in passing through it.

27. You find a spiritual track that makes sense to you and “speaks to you” at the most profound levels. Suddenly you are gaining a perspective that you would never have considered before. You hunger to know more. You read, share with others, ask questions, and go inside to discover more about who you are and why you are here.

28. You are moving through learning and personal issues at a rapid pace. You sense that you are “getting it” quite readily.

Advice: Keep remembering that things will come to you when they are ready to be healed. Not sooner. Deal with whatever comes up with courage and you will move through the issues rapidly.

29. Invisible presences. Here is the woo-woo stuff. Some people report feeling surrounded by beings at night or having the sensation of being touched or talked to. Often they will wake with a start. Some also feel their body or bed vibrate. The vibrations are caused by energetic changes after emotional clearing has taken place.

Advice: This is a sensitive topic, but you may feel better blessing your bed and space around it before you sleep. I rest assured that I am surrounded only by the most magnificent spiritual entities and am always safe in God’s care. Sometimes, however, the fear gets to me, and I call in Archangel Michael and/or Archangel Uriel. I don’t beat myself up for being afraid sometimes. I forgive myself for not always sovereign at 3:00 a.m.

30. Portents, visions, “illusions”, numbers, and symbols: Seeing things that have spiritual importance for you. Noticing how numbers appear synchronistically in your awareness. Everything has a message if you take the time to look. I enjoy the experience of “getting the messages.” What fun!

31. Increased integrity: You realize that it is time for you to seek and speak your truth. It suddenly seems important for you to become more authentic, more yourself. You may have to say “no” to people whom you have tried to please in the past. You may find it intolerable to stay in a marriage or job or place that doesn’t support who you are. You may also find there is nowhere to hide, no secrets to keep anymore. Honesty becomes important in all your relationships.

Advice: Listen to your heart. If your guidance tells you not to do something, speak up and take action. Say “no”. Likewise, you must also say “yes” to that which compels you. You must risk displeasing others without guilt in order to attain spiritual sovereignty.

32. Harmony with seasons and cycles: You are becoming more tuned to the seasons, the phases of the moon and natural cycles. More awareness of your place in the natural world. A stronger connection to the earth.

33. Electrical and mechanical malfunctions: When you are around, light bulbs flicker, the computer locks up, or the radio goes haywire.

Advice: Call on your angels, guides, or Grace Elohim to fix it or put up a field of protection of light around the machine. Surround your car with blue light. Laugh.

34. Increased synchronicity and many small miracles. Look for more of these.

Advice: Synchronistic events tell you if you are heading in the right direction or making the correct choices. Honor these clues and you cannot go astray. Spirit uses synchronicity to communicate to you. That’s when you begin to experience daily miracles. See #30.

35. Increased intuitive abilities and altered states of consciousness:
Thinking of someone and immediately hearing from them. More synchronicities. Having sudden insights about patterns or events from the past. Clairvoyance, out-of-body experiences, and other psychic phenomena. Intensified sensitivity and knowing. Awareness of one’s essence and that of others. Channeling angelic and Christ-consciousness energies.

36. Communication with Spirit. Contact with angels, spirit guides, and other divine entities. Channeling. More and more people seem to be given this opportunity. Feeling inspiration and downloading information that takes form as writing, painting, ideas, communications, dance, etc.

37. A sense of Oneness with all. A direct experience of this Wholeness. Transcendent awareness. Being flooded with compassion and love for all life. Compassionate detachment or unconditional love for all is what lifts us up to higher levels of consciousness and joy.

38. Moments of joy and bliss. A deep abiding sense of peace and knowing that you are never alone.

39. Integration: You become emotionally, psychologically, physically, and spiritually stronger and clearer. You feel as if you are in alignment with your Higher Self.

40. Living your purpose: You know you are finally doing what you came to earth for. New skills and gifts are emerging, especially healing ones. Your life/work experiences are now converging and starting to make sense. You are finally going to use them all.

Advice: Listen to your heart. Your passion leads you to where you must go. Go within and ask your Higher Power, “What is it you would have me do?” Watch for synchronicities. Listen.

41. Feeling closer to animals and plants. To some people, animals now seem to be more “human” in their behavior. Wild animals are less afraid. Plants respond to your love and attention more than ever. Some may even have messages for you.

42. Seeing beings of other dimensions. The veil between dimensions is thinner, so it is not surprising. Just stay in your sovereignty. You are more powerful than you can ever imagine, so do not entertain fear. Ask your guides for help if you slip into fear.

43. Seeing a person’s true form or seeing loved ones with a different face — past life or parallel life.

44. Physically manifesting thoughts and desires more quickly and efficiently.

Advice: Monitor your thoughts. All thoughts are prayers. Be careful what you ask for.

45. Left -brain fogginess. Your psychic abilities, your intuitive knowing, your feeling and compassion, your ability to experience your body, your visioning, your expressiveness all emanate from the right brain. In order for this side of the brain to develop more fully, the left brain must shut down a little bit. Normally the left-hemisphere’s capacity for order, organization, structure, linear sequencing, analysis, evaluation, precision, focus, problem-solving, and mathematics dominate our often less-valued right brain.

What results are memory lapses, placing words in the wrong sequence, inability or no desire to read for very long, inability to focus; forgetting what you are just about to say; impatience with linear forms of communication (audio or written formats); a feeling of spaciness, being scattered; losing interest in research or complex information; feeling bombarded with words and talk and information; and a reluctance to write. Sometimes you feel dull and have no interest in analysis, lively intellectual discussion, or investigation.

On the other hand, you might find yourself drawn to the sensate: videos, magazines with photos, beautiful artwork, movies, music, sculpting, painting, being with people, dancing, gardening, walking, and other kinesthetic forms of expression. You may search for spiritual content, even science fiction.

Advice: You may discover that if you allow your heart and your right brain to lead you, the left will then be activated appropriately to support you. And someday we will be well-balanced, using both hemispheres with mastery.

46. Dizziness. This occurs when you are ungrounded. Perhaps you have just cleared a big emotional issue and your body is adjusting to your “lighter” state.

Advice: Ground yourself by eating protein. Sometimes “comfort food” feels right. Don’t make any food right or wrong for you. Use your guidance to know what you need at any given moment. Take your shoes off and put your feet in the grass for a couple of minutes.

47. Falling, having accidents, breaking bones. Your body is not grounded or perhaps your life is out of balance. Or your body may be telling you to slow down, examine certain aspects of your life, or heal certain issues. There is always a message. When I recently broke my ankle, I understand that my ankle was taking on what I myself refused to deal with. And that was all of the above.

Advice: Stay grounded by taking your shoes off and putting your feet in the grass; even better, lie down on the grass without a blanket under you. Feel the earth beneath you. Get out in nature. Slow down and pay attention. Be mindful about what you are doing. Feel your feelings when they come up. Stay in the present. Surround yourself with blue light when you are feeling shaky.

49. Heart palpitations. A racing heart usually accompanies a heart opening. It only lasts for a few moments and means that the heart is re-balancing itself after an emotional release. I had one episode that terrified me: I woke up in the middle of the night, my heart pounding.
I thought it was going to come right out of my chest. It only happened once and was, I understand, a huge heart-chakra opening. But I did check it out. There is nothing wrong with my heart.

Advice: Remember what I said about getting medical attention when needed. Consult your doctor about any conditions you are not comfortable with.

50. Faster hair and nail growth. More protein is being used in the body. Too bad we can’t tell the body where to grow the hair and where not to grow it. (Or can we? Hmmm.)

51. A desire to find your soulmate or twin flame. More than ever before, the idea that we can have a relationship that matches who we are seems more desirable.

Advice: The truth is, we have to be the kind of person we want to attract.
We have to love ourselves and where we are right now before we can attract a more “perfect” mate. The work begins at home. Here is how I think it works: Hold the desire for this person in your heart, but without attachment. Expect that someday you will meet someone who is more suited to you, but let go of any expectations as to who this will be and how it will happen. Focus instead on cleaning up your own life and being the kind of person you want to be. Be happy now. Enjoy your life. Then you may see…..

52. Memories surface. Body memories, suppressed memories, images of past lives and/or parallel lives. We are healing and integrating all our “selves”, so expect to have some of these experiences.

Advice. Keep in mind that it is best to recall what only what comes to mind, leave the rest alone, don’t analyze everything to death (because you will be stuck in the tape loop of infinite issues to process), and feel your feelings as they come up. Ask for help from your guides.
